WikiTrek

A quick plug for an intiative recently started by Andy Howell author of the blog Walking & Trekking

WikiTrek is intended 'By walkers and trekkers, for walkers and trekkers'
To quote the introduction ........

"This works just like Wikipedia, indeed it is based on the same Software. But whereas Wikiedia is almost impersonal by way of being a work of reference, Wiki-Trek should aim to carry the opinions and reactions of ordinary walkers. The opportunity here is to supplement the kind of detail we would expect to find in guide books, proving more local colour, up-to-date information and - perhaps - descriptions of walks and regions from walker of different abilities and experience; as such novices and casual walkers are just as important to this site as are experienced hill climbers and backpackers"

It's early days, but will only prove of value if everyone chips in. The edit facility is a little tricky to master, but after a few goes it all starts to make sense.
